Hawai'i - Home(s) of the President (12/2011)

I am going to put the President Barack Obama Tour sights we saw in a chronology that follows his life, rather than the order we visited.

August 4, 1961
Obama was born in the predecessor to this hospital:
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children was previously the Kapi'olani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital, and only in later research did I learn that Obama was actually born in another location.
1961
6085 Kalaniana'ole Highway: 
This was the address of Obama's parents (Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Obama, Sr.) when he was born. His parents lived in a cottage behind the house where his maternal grandparents (Stanley Armour and Madelyn Dunham) lived:
1962-1963
2277 Kamehameha Street (mother's address):
1427 Alexander Street, Apt. 110 (grandparents' address):

1964-1967
2234 University Avenue (grandparents' address):
Obama and his mother moved into this house with her parents for 1966-1967.

Obama attended Kindergarten at Noelani Elementary School at 2655 Woodlawn Avenue:
Obama supposedly enjoyed childhood picnics at Puu Ualakaa State Park:

Obama lived in Indonesia.
1971-1979
1617 S Beretania Street, Punahou Circle Apartments:
In 1971 Obama returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents here in Apartment #1206. In 1973 they moved to Apartment #1008.
A couple locations where Obama used to play basketball -
1) Paki Avenue playground, now the Paki Community Park (Paki Avenue at Kapahulu Avenue):

2) Washington Middle School (1633 S King Street):
Obama attended the private Punahou School on a scholarship from 5th grade to graduation:

This was where Obama's mother and his half-sister lived from 1973-1975. Obama is reported to have lived with them in 1973. 
Obama's first job was at the Baskin-Robbins at 1618 S King Street:

Obama's high school Baccalaureate was held at the Central Union Church (1660 S Beretania Street):

Obama's maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham, died and was buried in the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Punchbowl Crater:

Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, died, and her ashes were spread from Makapu'u Point:

Obama's maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, died and her ashes were spread from Lanai Lookout:
Whenever Obama returns to Honolulu, he has some favorite places to eat, including:
Rainbow Drive-In (3308 Kanaina Avenue at Kapahulu Avenue) for plate lunches:

Kua 'Aina (various locations) for burgers: 
Kokonuts Shave Ice in the Koko Marina Paradise Shopping Center (7192 Kalaniana'ole Highway):
And finally Island Snow Shave Ice (130 Kailua Road in Kailua): 
Maybe some day we'll get to the golf courses that Obama frequents!
